About Dylan

Dylan Bonning-Tyers is a multidisciplinary artist who builds small, glowing worlds; sometimes with songs, sometimes with stories, sometimes with a camera quietly raised at just the right moment. At the centre of everything he does is the same instinct: to notice, to listen, and to tell the truth gently. His work lives in the in-between spaces, where feeling lingers and meaning hums softly rather than shouting for attention.

As a songwriter, Dylan moves between intimate acoustic confession and subtle, cinematic atmosphere. Guitars intertwine with synths and strings, creating songs that feel patient, reflective, and deeply human. His writing often circles themes of memory, loss, tenderness, and resilience, carried by melodies that feel lived-in rather than overly polished.

Earlier in his career, Dylan performed under the name Yutu, a chapter that saw his music featured on BBC Radio Leicester, Derby, and Nottingham through the BBC Introducing programme, alongside daytime radio play. Those years were formative: learning how to trust his voice, how to share songs with strangers, and how to let the songs live their own lives once released. While the name has changed, the emotional core of the work remains; only deeper, softer, and more assured.

Alongside music, Dylan is also an actor. Having been trained in his youth at the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy, he is now continuing his training at Urban Young Actors while being represented by UYA Talent Agency, working across both stage and screen. His acting spans serious, emotionally grounded roles as well as comedic performances, where timing, physicality, and a slightly mischievous edge come into play. While training with UYA, he has worked with Fred Gray of @mischiefcomedy, the award-winning company behind internationally acclaimed productions such as Peter Pan Goes Wrong. This training has sharpened both his dramatic instincts and his comedic precision, allowing him to move comfortably between intensity and humour without losing emotional truth.

Dylan is also a freelance photographer, capturing moments with the same sensitivity that shapes his music and acting. His photography focuses on people, places, and fleeting details; the kind you might miss if you blink or scroll too fast. His work is shared on Instagram at @dbtphotos, forming a growing archive of quiet beauty, human connection, and visual poetry.

Community sits at the heart of Dylan’s creative life. He has collaborated with a wide range of local artists, supported fellow musicians at gigs, and helped others build their audiences online. For him, art has never been about standing apart; it’s about standing together. More voices, more stories, more room at the table.

The roots of Dylan’s creativity trace back to his late grandparents. His grandad, a painter, taught him how to see; to notice light, colour, and negative space. His grandmother, a professional singer, taught him how to feel, and how to find the confidence within himself to perform. Their influence runs through everything he creates.

Today, Dylan Bonning-Tyers continues to create across music, acting, and photography, guided by honesty rather than spectacle. His work is for late walks, long drives, quiet rooms, and people who feel deeply; even when they’re not quite sure what to do with all that feeling. If there’s a single thread tying it all together, it’s this: a belief that gentleness can be powerful, humour can live beside heartbreak, and art can be a small, steady light that stays with you long after the moment has passed.
